A local radio station recently kept talking about a new documentary on Netflix called “The Poop Cruise”. It was about the events aboard the Carnival Triumph in 2013.
The Carnival Triumph in 2013 was sailing on a 7 day cruise when day 1 of sailing there was a fire in the engine room. The fire did so much damage that the ship eventually lost all power that affected the plumbing and sanitation. In short, the toilets wouldn’t flush. They were stranded in the Gulf of Mexico (which the orange idiot has renamed Gulf of America) for 5 days.
There was 4,000 passengers aboard the ship. Not every passenger was going to hold it until they return to port. Wait, how would they return to port?
The documentary goes into that along with talking with people who were actually on the ship. The whole ordeal lasted 8 days. The passengers were told to pee in the shower and poop in red biohazard bags. Yuck.
When the tugboats finally showed up, they started towing the ship but the showers started to overflow into the rest of the ship and into the carpet. Yeah, the showers full of pee. Nasty!
The ship went through a $200 million overhaul and was renamed to Carnival Sunrise. Hopefully, whatever caused the fire won’t happen again.
I’ve only been on one cruise in my life and it was on Carnival. It was one of the best vacations I ever hard. I wasn’t bored once.
I can’t imagine what those passengers went through. The trauma, the feeling of hopelessness being stranded on a ship. Not to mention the smell aboard. If I went through that, I wouldn’t step foot on another cruise ship again no matter how much money was offered.
I’m sure it was an accident but in this day in age where companies, shall we say try to cut corners, it does make you wonder where something like this will happen again. I certainly hope not but hopefully cruise companies have a better response than Carnival did with the Triumph.

This is a Spoiler free review
When I think of Superman, I immediately think of Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent/Superman and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor. I grew up in the 80s and there weren’t a lot of live action super hero movies like there is today. Christopher Reeve is and always will be my favorite Superman because that’s what I remember as a kid. I even thought Superman IV was a good movie until I realized how bad it is now production wise.
When I heard about the new Superman movie by James Gunn, I simply rolled my eyes. Here we go again with another rendition of Superman. How many more movies can we possibly make about Superman that hasn’t already been told? On top of that we have yet another actor playing the Man of Steel.
Reluctantly, I went with my son to see the new Superman movie. He really wanted to see it because he heard good things about it.
I don’t like going to the movies that much unless there is a movie I really want to see. The cost of tickets along with food is just ridiculous. Plus , who knows who did what in the seats when the lights go down if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I digress.
Part of my reluctancy in seeing this movie is because the last Superman entries have been meh. Brandon Routh was respectable in Superman Returns and Henry Cavill was respectable too but his movies were too serious. Plus, what else is there to tell about Superman?
What I enjoyed with the Christopher Reeve entries was there was some seriousness to the films but there was also some humor mixed in. The movies were fun to watch.
In Superman Returns along with the Henry Cavill movies, there was more emphasis put on action and special effects without much of the humor or fun factor. Maybe I’m just too bias but there needs to be a good mix when telling a story about Superman. I can see the dark, serious tone for Batman but Superman is a different kind of hero. The seriousness doesn’t work.
In this James Gunn version of Superman, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a good movie. It had some nice throwback to the Christopher Reeve entries both in acting along with the music composition. David Corenswet did a great job as the Man of Steel and Clark Kent. With the direction from Gunn, he brought that human aspect. There was a good mix of humor and seriousness. Plus, the movie was fun to watch.
The supporting cast especially Nicholas Hoult’s version of Lex Luthor and Mr. Terrific played by Edi Gathegi really stood out to me. Both helped drive the movie.
There were some parts of the movie that I had trouble following but my son mentioned this movie was more close to what was in the comics. I must confess that I wasn’t a big comic book reader and I’m still not today.
I’ve read recently that Superman is “too woke” in this film. Whatever the fuck that means. One of the critics is former Dean Cain, who has gone bat shit crazy with wearing the tin foil hat too much. While the comments aren’t surprising, I don’t know why politics has to get thrown in. Why can’t we simply enjoy a movie and escape the ugliness for 2 hours?
Overall, this was a good, fun movie to watch and definitely recommend it. -
Whoever is reading this is like huh? I still don’t know who actually reads my blogs or if I’m simply into a empty void taking space in the internet.
This was quite a week at work. As I mentioned in my intro and in the about section, I work for the US Federal Government. Yes, the same organization that Trump and his administration has shitted on since being elected. I digress and won’t go down that slipper slope.
This week has been quite chaotic. With a lot of work and less people to do it, I felt like I was getting pulled in different directions like the toy Stretch Armstrong (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretch_Armstrong). It makes the day go by faster but when you are trying to get something done, here goes two more people with issues. I need this or I need that. Hey, take a number and wait in line people!
Thankfully, I’ve another long weekend ahead to decompress, recharge, and forget about work for a few days. Just wish the weather would be a little nicer but I won’t complain…too much. -
This is an easy question for me. All of life, I have been around cats. I love their independent nature, their playfulness, and the low maintenance.
I have nothing against dogs. I see all the wonderful videos of how playful they are, how protective they are, and how they can be anyone’s best friend. The problem is dogs, I feel like, require more of your time and more maintenance. Not to mention some dogs just plain stink. Trying to bath a dog especially when they hate the tub doesn’t sound like fun.
With cats, they give themselves baths and don’t require much of your time. I’ve also been fortunate to be a cat whisperer, as my wife calls me. With the cats we own today and cats we’ve owned the past, our cats have gotten close to me. I am after all the one that feeds them, gives them water, and cleans their litter boxes. I also make sure to play with them too.
My brother in law told me one time that he doesn’t like cats because their boring and you can’t do anything with them. That’s BS. You do have to invest in time to play with them and give them attention. Yes, it’s probably more work than a dog but the reward is worth it. Well…at least for me it is. -
I’ve found the older I get the less bullshit I take and the less I want to be involved in someone’s drama. That’s probably not the best thing to do but I’ve got enough problems of my own that I don’t need to be dragged into your drama or don’t give a crap enough to be involved in. Luckily for me, I don’t have friends so I don’t deal with drama unless it’s something with my wife or kids.
I’ve also realized that I don’t have much of a filter either like I used to. I’ll say whatever is on my mind and deal with the consequences later. That explains how I was nominated for worst father of the year (https://fromanintrovertscorner.wordpress.com/2025/07/08/worst-father-of-the-year-nominee/). I’m still paying for my emotions overloading my mouth. My daughter hasn’t said much to me in 2 days. I tried apologizing on the day of the incident but was…well I’ll say it didn’t go over well.
Overall, the older I get the less f***s I give. Have I lived a fulfilling, happy life? Hell no but at this point all I care about is leaving my family in a good situation when I’m gone to wherever I end up. -
Thinking about those in Texas affected by the flooding. As a father, I can’t imagine what those parents and families are going through. Such a tragedy.

My wife and I love watching #OnPatrolLive. Some of the shit these officers deal with is ridiculous. If I were an officer I would be fired within a week.

I’m not sure where to begin. I guess I’ll start with an introduction. I’m Karl and a noob to Tumblr. That’s what the cool kids call a new person.
Anyway, I’m a husband and father. I’ve been with my wife for almost 29 years but married for 25 years.
In my spare time, I enjoy gaming on the PS5 and reading books. I primarily read Star Wars books in the Expanded Universe area which I think it’s called Legends. There is also another series called Canon which follows the movie timeline but I haven’t started that series yet. I’m still trying to finish the EU series of books first.
I’m also learning to play guitar. It’s a journey I started about 2 or 3 years ago but haven’t really dedicated a lot of time to it. I thought it would be easy to learn but I was wrong. I guess if it was easy everyone would do it right?
I’m also enjoy photography but I’ve really slacked which is depressing. Life and adulting has taken precedence and I don’t get out or take as much photos like I used to.
In my full time job, I work as an IT Specialist/Project Coordinator for the US Federal Government. I won’t divulge which agency I work for but I’ve proudly worked for the government for 14 years.
This administration’s attack on the federal government workforce has been frustrating and stressful to say the least. Many of my colleagues have been fired and who knows how many additional employees will lost their job.
There are hard working employees that work their hours, work on weekends, and work after hours to complete the mission of their respective agency. The people attacking the federal government workforce have no clue about the work that is done and the rhetoric is giving a false presentation of the federal government workforce.
I’ll admit that I’ve been thinking about my future and whether it’s time to look for a new job. My mental health along with the stress has taken it’s toll.
Is it really worth staying around to take the abuse? Will I find another job in the private sector that offers the same pay? I don’t know the answer. I like my current job and the people I work with. Plus I wouldn’t mind giving those attacking the federal government workforce a big fuck you and showing them we won’t quit.
I guess time will tell. I maybe writing into the void but if you read up to this point, thank you! Would love to meet new people and build a community here…hopefully with less toxicity.
